The first estimate for euro area (EA19) exports of goods to the rest of the world in September 2016 was €176.7 billion, an increase of 2% compared with September 2015 (€173.2 bn). Imports from the rest of the world stood at €150.2 bn, a fall of 2% compared with September 2015 (€154.0 bn). As a result, the euro area recorded a €26.5 bn surplus in trade in goods with the rest of the world in September 2016, compared with +€19.2 bn in September 2015. Intra-euro area trade remained nearly stable at €148.3 bn in September 2016, compared with September 2015.
