Volume of retail trade up by 0.7% in both euro area and EU28

Eurostat/ Volume of retail trade up by 0.7% in both euro area and EU28/ 4 April 2017 

The 0.7% increase in the volume of retail trade in the euro area in February 2017, compared with January 2017, is due to rises of 0.9% for non-food products and of 0.7% for “Food, drinks and tobacco”, while automotive fuel fell by 0.9%. In the EU28, the 0.7% increase in the volume of retail trade is due to rises of 1.1% for non-food products and of 0.5% for “Food, drinks and tobacco”, while automotive fuel fell by 0.7%. Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in the total retail trade volume were registered in Portugal (+3.1%), Croatia (+2.8%) and Slovenia (+2.3%), while the largest decreases were observed in Malta (-0.8%), Latvia (-0.7%) and Belgium (-0.6%).
