General Guidelines
The authors pledge that the submitted texts have not been published elsewhere either in print or online. Texts have to be submitted in Microsoft Word format, so that the editorial team can process them. Authors are kindly requested to submit with their texts, a full name, their professional profile, contact information and a recent photograph. Papers are submitted electronically to [email protected].
Opinion Articles
Opinion articles are texts that give the opportunity to authors to comment on important developments related to the Greek and European crises. The target audience of opinion articles is the general public (non-technical texts). Their length should be between 800 and 1,500 words and normally they should not contain footnotes and bibliographical references. Texts can be written either in Greek or in English.
Policy papers
Policy papers are non-technical papers, which nonetheless should be based on solid scientific arguments and/or verifiable empirical evidence. Their basic feature is the submission of specific policy proposals. In this context, limited use of tables and charts is considered acceptable. The use of footnotes and bibliographical references should also be limited. Authors should follow the Harvard referencing system. Bibliographical references appear alphabetically at the end of the paper. Their length should be between 2,000 and 4,000 words (including footnotes and bibliographical references). Texts can be written either in Greek or in English. Submitted papers should be accompanied by two abstracts (max 100 words) and 5 key-words in Greek and/or English.
Research Papers
Research papers are academic papers intended to promote research related to the crisis. The specifications that apply are similar to those for the submission of articles to established scientific journals. Authors should follow the Harvard referencing system. Bibliographical references appear alphabetically at the end of the paper. Their length should be between 6,000 and 8,000 words (including footnotes and bibliographical references). Texts can be written either in Greek or in English. Submitted papers should be accompanied by two abstracts (max 100 words) and 5 key-words in Greek and/or English.
Briefs
Briefs are a section of the Observatory that aims to offer a comprehensive review of a major topic related to the Greek and/or European crises, based on established academic research and/or empirical data. They comprise a main article ranging between 3,000 and 5,000 words (including footnotes and bibliographical references). The aim of the briefs is primarily educational/ informational; therefore the level of analysis should be similar to that of an academic textbook. Consequently, the use of footnotes and bibliographical references should be limited. Authors should follow the Harvard referencing system. Bibliographical references appear alphabetically at the end of the paper. Texts can be written either in Greek or in English. Submitted papers should be accompanied by two abstracts (max 100 words) and 5 key-words in Greek and/or English. The main article is accompanied by recommended literature and other information that the author may consider necessary for the comprehensive coverage of the topic. The preparation of a complete Brief (main article and recommended literature) is the responsibility of a sole author.
