Wilson, K., “How to unleash the financing of high growth firms in Europe”, Bruegel, 28 Μαΐου.
Access to capital is critical for SMEs and start-ups. In particular, growth finance is important for young innovative firms, which are the drivers of growth and jobs in the economy. In the context of the European Commission’s efforts to reinvigorate growth in Europe, private sector investment has been high on the agenda through President Juncker’s Investment Plan and efforts to deepen capital markets in Europe through the proposed Capital Markets Union (CMU). Both the Juncker Investment Plan and the CMU highlight the importance of unlocking barriers and improving liquidity for SMEs, however, there is little focus on the important segment of high growth firms.
